Thank You to Representative Kristen McDonald-Rivet for Supporting Residential Expansion
We extend our sincere thanks to Kristen McDonald Rivet for her leadership and support in securing a $900K USDA grant award that will make possible the next phase of residential expansion for Ten16 Recovery Network.
To enhance the experience for people in residential treatment, Ten16 plans to expand the campus facilities, which were formerly an 18-acre horse farm, in a couple of ways.
First, raze the 1920s barn to construct a 4,320-square-foot multipurpose activity center that provides larger gathering spaces for campus users. The building would enable program staff to increase family involvement and visitation, host community support meetings, and organize alumni events. It would also have a half-court gym and fitness room for recreational therapy activities on the grounds. Being 5 miles outside the city limits, this would save time and gas by avoiding the drive into town to access recreational facilities.
The second, smaller project will be to renovate the existing farmhouse on campus, including a new roof, gutters, windows, and siding, to evaluate programming options the property could accommodate. We are particularly interested in specialty areas for women, in a safe, calm, serene, home-like atmosphere.
This investment represents far more than bricks and mortar. The new residential expansion will enable Ten16 to serve more individuals seeking recovery, increase program capacity, and create safer, more functional spaces better aligned with evidence-based care. At a time when rural communities continue to face significant gaps in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment, this project directly strengthens access to care where it is most needed.
Representative McDonald-Rivet has been a consistent advocate for rural communities and for solutions that support both individual recovery and long-term community health. Her support of this USDA-funded project reflects a clear understanding that recovery infrastructure is essential infrastructure, and that investing in people ultimately strengthens families, workplaces, and local economies.
We are grateful for her partnership, her responsiveness, and her recognition of the important role nonprofit providers play in addressing complex community needs. This grant positions Ten16 to continue growing responsibly while remaining grounded in our mission and values.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, and the individuals and families we serve, thank you, Representative McDonald-Rivet, for helping make this important project a reality.
