Ten16 Partners with Midland County Jail’s New Recovery Pod
Ten16 Recovery Network is proud to be one of the community partners supporting Midland County Jail’s new Recovery Pod, a specialized service for people who want to start or rekindle their recovery while they are in jail.
According to the Midland Daily News, the Recovery Pod opened in April as a structured housing unit for men with substance use disorders. The program brings together accountability, treatment, peer support, and reentry planning so participants can start building recovery skills while still in jail.
Captain Amy Randall from Midland County Jail said the pod provides focused treatment and support in an environment that promotes accountability, stability, and personal growth. The first group included fewer than 15 men, selected for their diagnosis, good behavior, willingness to participate, and motivation to work on recovery.
Ten16 will provide peer recovery support as one component of the program’s design. Connecting with someone who has experienced recovery firsthand helps participants plan for life after release and explore treatment and community support options.
The Midland Daily News also notes that the Recovery Pod is part of a larger effort at the jail to combine accountability with opportunities for change. Sheriff Scott Holzinger says that jails protect the public and help people get treatment, education, reentry support, and recovery resources.
Midland County Opioid Settlement Funds help support Ten16’s work in the Recovery Pod. This funding allows for practical, community-based efforts to lower overdose risk, strengthen recovery, and support people as they rebuild their lives. Midland County uses these funds to grow recovery partnerships, such as recovery coaching, treatment access, reentry support, and other resources.
This partnership fits Ten16’s mission. Many people with substance use issues enter the justice system, and jail can be a turning point for those who want to change. By providing peer support in the Recovery Pod, we help people get respect and guidance as they work toward a healthier future, showing that accountability and recovery can go hand in hand.
